Polish dialogues : We are going on holidays

I realised that for some time I haven’t published any Polish dialogues. Since I am going soon on holidays abroad, to Sardinia in Italy to be more specific, I have decided to create a dialogue about travelling and means of transport. Such dialogue could actually take place in real life between myself and my wife 馃檪

Well, let’s have a look, I hope you will find it useful and learn some Polish vocabulary that will help you when travelling.

Like always, you will find Polish dialogue with audio first and then its translation into English (click English translation to see it). Below I will add some extra words and travel phrases.

A: Kiedy dok艂adnie lecimy na Sardyni臋?
P: Niech sprawdz臋. Powr贸t tydzie艅 p贸藕niej, 12 kwietnia o 13.10.

A: A z jakiego lotniska lecimy?
P: Tak jak zwykle, z lotniska Szopena w Warszawie.

A: Zam贸wi艂e艣 ju偶 parking przy lotnisku?
Zastanawiam si臋 tylko, kt贸ry parking wybra膰.

A: A jaka jest r贸偶nica w cenach?

We藕miemy taks贸wk臋. Pyta艂em nawet w艂a艣ciciela mieszkania, ile kosztuje taks贸wka. Powiedzia艂, 偶e kilkana艣cie euro.

P: Spokojnie. Samoch贸d wypo偶yczymy po kilku dniach. Na pocz膮tku rozejrzymy si臋 po okolicy. Zwiedzimy Alghero, stare miasto, by膰 mo偶e jakie艣 muzea i odwiedzimy okoliczne pla偶e. M贸wi艂em ci, 偶e w mieszkaniu, kt贸re wynajmujemy s膮 4 rowery, z kt贸rych mo偶emy korzysta膰? Mo偶emy sobie robi膰 rowerowe wycieczki.

A: Czy mamy w domu jakie艣 przewodniki o Sardynii?
W sobot臋 p贸jd臋 do biblioteki i postaram si臋 co艣 wypo偶yczy膰. Je艣li nie b臋dzie nic interesuj膮cego, to szybko kupi臋 przewodnik w ksi臋garni obok.

P: Trzeba sprawdzi膰, czy mamy wa偶ne paszporty. M贸j chyba nied艂ugo traci wa偶no艣膰, ale nawet je艣li ju偶 jest niewa偶ny, to mam dow贸d osobisty i nadal mog臋 podr贸偶owa膰. Ostatnia sprawa to ubezpieczenie podr贸偶y. Musimy je kupi膰 dla ca艂ej rodziny tu偶 przed wyjazdem.

A: Tyle tych spraw do za艂atwienia, 偶e powoli odechciewa mi si臋 gdziekolwiek jecha膰.
P: Co zrobi膰? 呕eby wypocz膮膰, trzeba si臋 najpierw porz膮dnie zm臋czy膰.

English version

A: When exactly do we fly to Sardinia?
P: Let me see… The flight is in two weeks, on the 5th of April at 6.15 in the morning. The return is a week later, on the 12th of April at 13.10.

A: What airport are we flying from?
P: Like usually, from Chopin Airport in Warsaw.

A: Have you booked the car park at the airport?
P: Not yet, I need to hurry up and to it this week. I am thinking about which one to choose. The cheaper one with the bus to the airport or more expensive one with parking space close to the terminal.

A: And what is the difference in the price? Isn’t it better to leave the car at home and go to the airport by bus?
P: Probably there is no point. Going by car will be faster and more comfortable. I am not even sure if there are busses at this time. We need to be at the airport two hours before the departure around 4 in the morning.

A: OK, and what after we will land. How will we get to this rented flat?
P: The flat is only a few kilometres from the airport. We will take a taxi. I have asked the owner of the flat how much is a taxi. He said it is a dozen or so euro.

A: So we will not have a car there?
P: Take it easy. We will rent a car after a few days. At the beginning we will see what is in the neighbourhood. We will visit Alghero, the old town, maybe some museums and the beaches nearby. Have I told you there are four push-bikes in the flat we rent, and we can use those? We could do some bike trips. After a few days we will find out where are other interesting places to see, we will rent a car, and we will go there. Who knows, maybe public transport in Sardinia is good, and we can travel by busses?

A: Have we got at home any travel guides about Sardinia?
P I do not think so, we have a few about Italy but not about Sardinia. I will go to the library on Saturday and will try to borrow something. If there will be nothing interesting there, I will quickly buy a guide in local bookshop.

A: Do we need to sort anything else out before the trip?
P: We need to check if we have valid passports. Mine will probably be not valid soon but even if it is out of date already I have still my ID card and can travel. A few days before the flight we also need to do check out but Ryanair sends some email reminders about it. Last thing, is travel insurance. Shortly before we leave we need to buy one for the whole family.

A: So many things to sort out, I slowly lose interest in going anywhere.
P: What can we do? To take a rest you need to first get very tired.
